  1. Hi Chef,

After having my blood test from sagemedlab.com and you helping with my diet I have lost 23 lds now I feel better and look great, thanks again Chef Lonnie I will be calling you to talk about some more recipes.

    Thanks Marcy.

    • Marcy,
WOW!! 23 pounds, I bet you are feeling great, but loosing the weight is not the main goal in mind, feeling better is what we’re after. Like I mentioned to you before, your body will get to the weight that it is supposed to be at, not what we think we are supposed to be. It is great to hear that you are doing great and I look forward to your call.

  2. Lonnie,
I ordered and have been drinking Dandy Blend, as you recommended, instead of coffee; however, I noticed on the label that is is made from barley. I’m supposed to be eliminating barley as well. Help??! Did you mistakenly recommend this product or can I continue to drink it as a coffee substitute?
    Thank you,
    Chris

    • Christine,

I am going to have say that this one is my mistake as I didn’t see the barley there. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. You can substitute your coffee with Chicory or try an Organic Tea from the company teecino; you can find them at http://www.teeccino.com which would also be a great place to buy organic caffine free coffee free coffee substitute when it comes time for the challenge phase on your diet, their coffee is made from organic barley, not coffee.

  3. Lonnie,

I’m now going onto a Candida Free diet for the next couple of weeks. I’m strickly going on Protein and fresh veggies. Do you have any idea for some snacks? I have to stay away from anything that will feed the candida in my body.

    Thanks
    Mike

    • Mike,
The first thing we need to do is starve the fungus and in doing so you may have flu like symptoms as the Candida parasite begins to die. Fungi are living things and of course do not like to die. They emit toxins into your body, making your symptoms get worse instead of better at first for the first few days.
Make sure to eat plenty of fresh vegetables preferably raw on this yeast infection diet. This is very important on the Candida diet because vegetables absorb fungi poisons or mycotoxins and carry them out of the body.
Here is a list of a few things to stay away from:
No fruits or fruit juices because of the sugar they contain except for green apples, berries, avocados, grapefruit, lemons and limes. Avocado is also a very good source of fat. We want to stay away from as much sugar as possible as the sugar will act as a fuel for the yeast to feed on.
      No breaded meats.
No egg substitutes although eggs themselves are ok.
      No margarine and butter substitutes.
      No potatoes or beans.
      No coffee, tea or sodas.
No grains including pasta, rice, corn, wheat, millet, quinoa, oats, buckwheat and barley.
Absolutely no yeast foods such as bread, mushrooms, pastries, alcohol,
No pickles, salad dressings or any foods with vinegar.

Now Mike, you’re probably thinking what the heck is left for me to eat, so I’m going to let you in on some things you can eat.
Broccoli, brussel sprouts, all cabbages, asparagus, bell peppers, alfalfa sprouts, celery, eggplant, garlic, kelp, fennel, all the lettuces, onion, pumpkin, kale, spinach, all summer squashes, tomatoes, turnip greens, watercress, aloe vera, yes aloe vera, rhubarb, yucca and carrots, but the carrots you will want to eat raw only as when they cook the sugar content doubles on that of a raw carrot.
A few meats that you can enjoy are beef, liver, buffalo, lamb, sausage, pork, poultry and venison. If you like seafood there is the flounder, mahi-mahi, shrimp, cod, halibut, squid and wild salmon.

      • Wow!! No brown rice or corn?? How about herbal teas sweetened with Stevia?

  4. Hi Lonnie,

I just talked with you a few minutes ago and was reviewing the material you sent me.

I am allergic to benzoic acid. In looking at your page on benzoic acid it talks about it being present in fruit juices, sparkling drinks and soft drinks. Does this me i cannot drink any sparkling, fruit or soft drinks?

    • Not all of those drinks will have benzoic acid, but some may, just remember to read the labels and if you have questions about a product please let me know and I will try to find the answer for you.

  5. I am just starting the rotation diet. If I eat something that has wheat(like bread)on day 1, does that mean that I cannot have another thing with wheat (like noodles) until day 4?

    Thank you so much.

    • Linda,
You are correct, anything you eat on day one should not be in the rotation again until day 4. The key is rotation and you want to rotate your foods as much as possible.

  6. If I am allergic to Benzoic acid, is there some vinegar I can have? I don’t see this ingredient on the labels of the ones from the health food store.

    Thanks.

    • I think most vinegars would be ok to use, but keep in mind to also look out for sodium benzoate which is the salt from Benzoic Acid.

  7. I need a great egg replacement recipe for breakfast, it is week 4 and I need egg!

    Thanks.

    • Gail,
When one has an allergy to eggs, there are no substitutions for an egg if you are considering a scrambled egg or an omelet, unless you use soy (tofu) products. When you are looking for a substitute for baking then you can use thigs like flax seed and water, ener-g egg, which is basically a potato starch, mashed bananas, applesauce or arrowroot starch.

  8. Lonnie,

Can you tell me again the purpose of the rotation diet?

    Thanks,
    Linda

    • Linda,
For reasons that we do not fully uinderstand, for some individuals, eating a specific food causes the immune system to stand up and fight, yet the immune system loses. Consequently, you become ill. The illness you have is the immune system’s response to a certain food. The tendency to be sensitive to certain foods can either be genetic or caused by the constant and repeated exposure to the same foods. Since we tend to eat the same foods over and over our present symptoms continue and new ones start to develop. Most chronic diseases related to foods develops slowly but become severe and resistant to routine treatment with medication. Unless the food(s) are removed from the diet, the constant immune stimulation persists. Food intolerance is a reaction to foods due to a supposed but not demonstrated immunological mechanism or pharmacological properties of the food. Food sensitivity is stimulation of the body’s defenses by a commonly eaten food. As we grow older and wiser we become “pattern” eaters, we become sensitive to foods we always eat or crave. At a certain pont the body’s immune system becomes overwhelmed by these foods and begins attacking weaknesses in the body. These food proteins are the foreign substances that the body is attempting to defend against. The manifestations are migraines, constipation, arthritis, asthma, or numerous other chronic conditions that over time become a chronic illness. So in short, the more you rotate your foods, the better off your immune system will be.

  9. I was reading the label on the ener-g-egg substitute and it contains calcium lactate (not derived from dairy)everything i have read says i should avoid lactate is this true for this product as well since it says not derived from dairy

    thanks,
    mary

    • Mary,
Lactate or lactic acid, it’s not from dairy. “Lac” ingredients are usually produced by a fermentation process using cornstarch or beet sugar. Lactose is always from dairy. Most ingredients made with with calcium are vegan (i.e. calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, calcium sulfate). The exceptions are calcium caseinate and calcium stearate.

  10. I ate gluten filled pasta by mistake early in my diet. The company had both products side-by-side and I did not notice it until I already ate it. So do I have to move our the entire challenge phase on all allergy items or just the gluten?

    • Gail,
I’m not to sure what you mean by “moving” the entire challenge phase. If you are still in the six weeks of the diet and you have eaten something that has gluten in it, don’t worry, you don’t have to start over. If you are into the challenge phase now and you were challenging something besides gluten but the product had gluten in it, we may need to challenge that food again if you had a reaction, but without the gluten. But, I am not to sure on the question because the “move” part is throwing me off a little.

      Alternative Chef,
      Lonnie Behrens

      • No I’m not into the challenge phase yet. I wasn’t sure if I had to repeat the diet 6 weeks phase if I had some “wrong” food or if after 6 weeks I can still go into the challenge phase with everything.

  11. Chef,
I’ve been getting headaches just about every morning after taking a sleeping pill prescribed by my doctor. If I don’t take it, I can’t sleep, but I hate the headaches almost as much. Is there something I can eat or drink that might replace the sleeping pills?
Let me know your thoughts on this since the cure is almost as bad as the problem.

    • BeachDaddy,
It sounds as though the pill may not be the root cause of your headaches, there may be more to it than just a pill. First let me ask you, have you ever been tested for food allergies and do you rotate your foods properly? For reasons we do not fully understand, for some individuals, eating a specific food causes the immune system to stand up and fight; yet the immune system loses. Consequently, you become ill. The illness you have is the immune system’s response to a certain food.
The tendency to be sensitive to certain foods can be either genetic or caused by the constant and repeated exposure to the same foods. Since we tend to eat the same foods over and over our present symptoms continue and new ones start to develop.

  12. I am supposed to avoid bananas but can I have plantains?

    • Yes you can have plantains but just make sure that we don’t eat those everyday.

      Lonnie
